Eureka EasyClean 71B Review

Pets, hardwood floors, and a slight build, I have them all. So, suffice it to say that when I was in the market for a vacuum cleaner I wanted something that was lightweight and easy to carry and could deal with the dust mites and pet hair flying around, without destroying my immaculate hardwood floors. The Eureka EasyClean 71B struck my fancy the most; these are the reasons why I love it along with a few faults.

Main Features

At a mere 5 pounds the 71B is extremely light weight which suits me just fine and its 20ft cord makes maneuvering it around a room a cinch. When you are done using it the cord neatly wraps around its base for convenient storage.

It is also powered by a unique two motor system that uses 5.5amps, one for suction and one for powering the revolving brush tool. In spite of having two motors the EasyClean is surprisingly quiet and its suction capabilities are quite powerful.

Attachments and Functions

With the Eureka 71B you can clean both horizontally and vertically by adjusting the front riser visor that’s covers the 6-inch nozzle, to suit your needs. The revolving brushes can be switched on or off through a button on the body.

Additionally there is a hose which can stretch up to 3 times its length and a crevice tool attachment for getting into those hard to reach areas which makes cleaning furniture really simple. The dust cup is transparent and comes with a filter, so you know when it needs to be emptied.

Pros

  • It is best suited for picking up pet hair.
  • Very powerful suction.
  • Lightweight and quiet.
  • Long cord.

Cons

  • Even though the suction is strong, the brushes get in the way of large particles.
  • The dust cup and filter are messy to clean and the filter gets clogged easily so you have to empty it often.
  • Sometimes it has the effect of a snowplow pushing the dirt away rather than sucking it up.

Uses and Verdict

The 71B is great for stairs, cars and furniture. When it comes to flooring, it works excellent as a vacuum for hardwood floors without scuffing the bare surface; however, you would need to get down on your hands and knees which is not ideal. For me it works great because I just use it to suck up tufts of pet hair when I see them rolling around on the floor.

One important fact to keep in mind is that this machine cannot pick up sharp objects like glass or the filter and dust cup will be damaged. Since it is so small (7X10X8 inches) it is very easy to store and whip out whenever you spill something and it comes with a 1 year manufacturers warranty if anything should go wrong.

With the 71B you won’t get as many capabilities as an upright vacuum cleaner which is why I would suggest using the Eureka EasyClean more as a standby cleaner for little messes as opposed to heavy duty work.
